Spinal motor excitability changes during contralateral muscle contraction

Electrical nerve stimulation was used to record H reflex during contralateral muscle contraction. 

Findings and Publication

We showed that the spinal excitability dipped during contralateral muscle relaxation and did not recover until after the muscle had completely relaxed. This showed that cross-education effect (strength gain in contralateral side) may be mediated by different mechanisms. More details here and here
